Killarney staff raise €40,000 for Ian O’Connell’s trust fund

Staff from The Killarney Park Hotel have raised €40,000 for the Ian O’Connell Trust after participating in the annual Ring of Kerry Cycle.
The inspirational Killarney teenager suffered life-changing injures in a freak cycling accident in 2017.
Since then he has been promoting a well-being lifestyle through his ‘if you can’t stand up, stand out’ mantra.
The owners, management and staff of the hotel said they were determined to do all they could to help out their colleague, Ian O’Connell.
“When the Ian O’Connell Trust was added as one of the official charities for the 2018 Ring of Kerry Cycle it was only natural that we dedicated our fundraising efforts towards this goal,” said Operations Manager, Marcus Treacy, who along with 15 of his colleagues took part in the cycle last July.
“As well as raising sponsorship individually, we contacted all of our suppliers and asked if they could donate and we were blown away by the response. We also received many very generous donations from our guests and in total, we raised €40,000, which we hope will help Ian in his rehabilitation. He has truly been an inspiration to all of us here at the hotel.”
