Killarney apprentices in National Skills final

Several Killarney-based apprentices will compete in the National Skills competition finals in the RDS Dublin today (Friday).
The National Skills competition showcases over 20 varied skills and trades in a competitive setting, the winners in each event having the opportunity to represent Ireland at the World Skills Olympics in Russia later this year.
Liebherr Container Cranes have two apprentices competing in the national final.
Kieran O’Halloran, a third-year Metal Fabrication apprentice from Ballyheigue, will complete in the Metal Fabrication final and Bill O’Connell, a fourth year Mechanical Automation and Maintenance Fitter apprentice from Scartaglen, will compete in the Industrial Mechanical final.
Killarney’s Monica King, a student at Kerry Education and Training Board in Tralee is a finalist in the Beauty Therapy section.
The National Skills Competition is open to skilled young people under the age of 23 across construction, engineering, and transport.
