Ghouls, goblins and ghosts at Killarney Outlet Centre

This Sunday (October 28), be afraid and very afraid as a wide array of ghouls, goblins, ghosts, witches, wacky wonders and weirdos descend in strange spooky swarms upon the Killarney Outlet Centre. Is it a zombie takeover? No, it’s the annual Halloween Fancy Dress Parade with fantastic prizes and free fun activities for the whole family!

The lucky winners of the Fancy Dress Parade will receive a Boys Flicker A3 Air Scooter for the Best Dressed Boy and a Girls Flicker A3 Air Scooter for the Best Dressed Girl, both sponsored by World of Wonder. The Best Dressed Family in association with Select Hotels of Ireland will win a fabulous family break in The Twin Trees Hotel, Co. Mayo. (2 nights B&B and 1 Dinner for 2 Adults & 2 Kids under 12 sponsored by Select Hotels and The Twin Trees Hotel).

The Best Dressed Adult will collect a Family Pass for Killarney Ghost Tours.

All entrants are asked to please donate €1 in support of Killarney Rotary Club’s campaign to End Polio Now. Our panel of judges are looking forward to seeing some more fantastic and unusual costumes this year.

Every child will be given a goodie bag, and there’s even a treat in store for parents, as everyone who comes along to the party will receive a voucher from Select Hotels of Ireland offering a free second night’s stay when you book one night away at any Select Hotel nationwide.

We will have bouncy castles with A Time to Party, free Halloween face painting to put the finishing touch to your outfit or get creative at the free Halloween recycled arts and crafts workshops. There will be free children’s entertainment with spooky storytelling sessions and Punch and Judy puppet shows in the Yurt from 2-4pm. Killarney Candle Makers and Clay Fun will also be on hand to help you create a personalised candle or clay design – a small materials charge applies.

Ireland’s premier Outlet Centre hosts a bespoke Arts, Crafts and Food Fair on the ground floor on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 of October. Support local artists, craft workers and food producers and check out the exquisite range of unique handcrafted goods on offer, with something to suit all tastes and pockets.

Gardai confirm person of interest “has left jurisdiction” in Killarney murder case

Person of interest leaves jurisdiction in Killarney murder case

Gardaí investigating the murder of Jamey Carney have confirmed that a person of interest left the jurisdiction in the early hours of Tuesday July 7, prior to the discovery of the body.

An Garda Síochána are currently engaging with international law enforcement partners as part of the ongoing investigation into the death at a domestic residence on Muckross Road. The murder investigation is being carried out by the Serious Crime Unit, Kerry Division, with assistance from national units including the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (GNBCI) and the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB).

The scene at Muckross Road remains preserved today, and the technical examination is continuing.

Gardaí are renewing their appeal for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward. In particular, anyone who was in the Muckross Road area between 11pm on July 6 and 5am on July 7, and who may have camera, CCTV, or dashcam footage, is asked to contact the investigation team.

Ade Desbrow wins Killarney Camera Club final seasonal competition


Killarney Camera Club member Ade Desbrow has secured first place in the Unrestricted Category of the club’s final competition of the season.

His winning photograph, titled ‘Submerged Flowers’, took the top spot in the Open Print Competition.
The Open Print Competition serves as a special highlight of the club calendar, encouraging members to print their photos and bring them to life. Presenting an image as a physical print offers a completely different experience from viewing a digital file on a screen, allowing the detail, texture, and craftsmanship of the printed photograph to create a new appreciation of the work.
