Glow Football comes to Killarney
A
A group of intrepid youngsters gathered at Killarney Sports & Leisure Centre on Monday night to take part in a very special game of football… In the dark. Glow football is a new FAI initiative aimed at introducing girls to, and keeping girls interested in, the beautiful game. Killarney Celtic was one of four clubs nationwide chosen to roll out this new scheme and PRO Ramona Keogh was delighted with how the event went.
“It was a fantastic night,” she said. “There was a huge turn out with 24 kids as well as parents, spectators and representatives from local sports bodies in attendance. The atmosphere was just electric and the kids were so excited, as were the parents. When the lights went out the hall just lit up with luminous headbands, armbands, bibs and face paint.
“The FAI filmed it on the night their media and communications team were on site for three hours. It was a very proud evening for the club. Big thanks to the FAI, especially David Lenane, Darren Aherne, Tom O'Shea and the FAI Communications Department, for choosing Killarney Celtic for the launch of glow football.”
