The entire community has been urged to band together and support the family of a 21-year-old Killarney woman who is currently in a coma in Spain.

Louise Lynch from Radrinagh, Spa was involved in a horrific car accident near La Albuera, Badajoz on February 24. Two weeks later, she is still in intensive care suffering from serious internal, cranial and abdominal injuries as well as many fractured bones. Her condition is described as being critical.

The incident, which involved three vehicles and eight people, has also left two others, including Louise’s friend, in hospital. One passenger was tragically killed.

Shortly after the accident, Louise’s family flew out to Spain to be by her side in the Infanta Christina Hospital in Badajoz.

Her father, Séamus, is originally from Milltown/Castlemaine and her mother, Nora (née Buckley), grew up in Radrinagh. Her brother, James, is a Leaving Cert student in St Brendan’s College while her sister, Marie, is studying nursing in UCC.

Louise has been described by friends as being a very energetic person with a great of humour. She has always been very active in her community and has lined out for the Spa ladies in football. She is also a talented musician and has represented Spa in Scór na nÓg.

This is a tremendously difficult time for the Lynch family and any support our readers can offer would be greatly appreciated. A GoFundMe page has been set up by the family and Spa GAA to help with the enormous medical expenses and already €28,500 has been donated.

The event, organised in association with Killeentierna Parish Church, takes place this Saturday, May 2, and will run throughout the day. Members of the community are encouraged to attend to tidy family graves and adjacent pathways in preparation for the cemetery mass on Wednesday, May 13, at 7.30 pm.
