Elite Event Management, which is based on the Tralee Road in Killarney, is celebrating having won the Best Outdoor/Adventure Event of 2017 at the Outsider Awards. Representatives of Elite Events travelled to Dublin to pick up the prestigious award, which they won for their event Quest Glendalough.
Quest Glendalough took place on April 8 and more than 1,700 participants took part. Elite Events saw off stiff competition from 26 other shortlisted events to claim the prize.
Oliver Kirwan, Race Director, was presented the prize by Ken Costigan of sponsors, The Great Outdoors. Oliver said: “We are really delighted to win this award. We work hard all year delivering world-class events and Quest Glendalough really is an amazing day out. We’re very fortunate to have lots of support locally here in Killarney but also on the ground where we run our events. We’re looking forward to bringing lots more enjoyable events to our participants in the year ahead. Thanks to everyone who voted for us to win.”
At the awards, Quest Glendalough was praised for topping the poll of events for best outdoor/adventure event of 2017. It was hailed as ‘a firm favourite on Ireland’s adventure calendar’. The Outsider Awards recognise the very best in the outdoor and adventure scene in Ireland.
Quest Glendalough is an adventure race which involves racers running and cycling through the Wicklow Mountains National Park and Glendalough Valley as well as kayaking across the spectacular Upper Lake and finishing the race in the shadows of the monastic round tower which epitomises the Glendalough area.
