Car parking in Killarney
It sometimes takes a pair and fresh and alert Tralee eyes to see a solution to car park problems in Killarney. Even on grey November days, the car park at Lewis Road where the buses are meant to be, is in effect half empty.
The section for the coach buses is cordoned off and no revenue is being earned. Meanwhile time pressed solicitors like Patrick Daly, the Tralee councillor, can find nowhere to park on court days in November in Killarney.
“There is plenty of parking in Tralee,” the solicitor said, rubbing salt into Killarney wounds.
Mr Daly also raised the matter of loss of revenue. Apparently, the coaches pay nothing to the council for the parking in Lewis Road – but the rationale of the old town council was the car spaces freed up on the East Avenue Road would compensate.
Still, would it be beyond reasonable to seek that the coach part be opened up to cars at least for the winter? Even during the summer, between hours of 10 and 5 pm that section is empty also as al the buses have departed for the Ring of Kerry.
