Putting their best foot forward

DESPITE the icy elements, dozens of charity champions turned out for the annual fundraising Christmas Charity walk in Fossa on Thursday, December 28.
Two very deserving local causes will benefit from the annual walk – now in its fifth year – organised by the Killarney Valley Classic and Vintage Club.
The Innisfallen Hotel, Fossa, was the starting point and the walk route brought participants along the Fossa Way to Knockreer with a 5k or a 10k option from which to choose.
After the walk, participants were afforded an opportunity to defrost with refreshments including hot chocolate, tea/coffee and finger food with a rousing trad session, featuring the Killarney School of Music, in the Innisfallen Hotel.
The main charity to benefit this year from the walk will again be the Kerry-Cork Health Link Bus while proceeds from a post-walk raffle will go to the Ian O’Connell Fund, set up to help Killarney teenager Ian O’Connell who was seriously injured in a fall from his bicycle last August.
Tom Leslie, KVC&V Club Chairman, thanked everyone who came out and took part in and supported the walk. Anyone wishing to join the Killarney Valley Classic & Vintage Club or would like to renew their membership for 2018, can do so by calling to Killarney Glass, Woodlands Industrial Estate for a membership form or call 087-3381842.
