ALWAYS to be relied on to get the giddy whirl of festive revelry off to a fine start, this year's Evening of Wine & Art is shaping up to be as spectacular as ever. The fun commences at 7.30pm this Thursday in The Malton Hotel and we'd advise you to be there early to enjoy the action.

Killarney Rotary Club president Eduard Schmidt-Zorner and his team have been busy putting the finishing touches to this year's event, while artists and wine suppliers are also keen to ensure you have an evening to remember. “It is always a joyful event where you meet new and old friends, and know you are supporting the local charities and community projects benefiting from the evening,” said Eduard.

Killarney Rotary Club appreciates the support given by the sponsors, Daly’s Supervalu and Killarney Breweries, added the club president. “We also look forward to welcoming back the artists and craft people every year and it is always nice to meet new artists,” said Eduard.

The usual wine and cheese tasting opportunities will appeal to all. Meanwhile the charities and organisations involved will have stands and advertise their projects and sell products, while the raffle is always hotly anticipated. “Killarney Rotary will also provide an information stand for those who want to learn more about Rotary or may be interested in becoming a member,” added Eduard.

The annual Killarney Regatta Dance took place on September 25 as rowers, families and supporters came together to celebrate their successful year.

The racing was cancelled in September due to bad weather.

The Killarney Regatta is one of Ireland’s oldest rowing events, having first begun in 1788.

The dance took place at the Killarney Oaks Hotel where there was a lot of excitement and fun. Six rowing clubs, Fossa, Workman’s, St Brendan’s, Commercials, Flesk Valley, and Muckross, came together to celebrate the community and its shared history.

Amelia Counihan was crowned as the Regatta Queen.

The Queen represents the spirit pride and grace of the rowing community and has been a tradition in the club for generations.

Workman’s Rowing Club congratulated Amelia and described her as a woman who embodies everything that their tradition stands for.

The club said: “Queen is more than a title — it is a celebration of history, community, and the spirit of Killarney rowing.”
