Killarney students to present €1000 bursary

LORETO SISTER Orla Treacy will be receiving the Hugh O’Flaherty Humanitarian Award tonight in the Killarney Avenue Hotel at 8pm.
Sr Orla is principal of a girls secondary school in South Sudan – one of the poorest nations and most fragile democracies in the world.
As a significant new element of the Hugh O’Flaherty Humanitarian Award will see students from various schools in Killarney parish will make a bursary presentation of €1000 to Sr Orla at the award ceremony.
Sr Orla will speak at the event about the challenges they face on a daily basis to educate the young people of South Sudan as a means of achieving liberty and climbing out of poverty and oppression. The award ceremony is open to the public and all are welcome.
