KILLARNEY GARDAI have seized hundreds of euro worth of illegal fireworks following a targeted operation over Halloween.

Fireworks with an estimated value of between €400 and €500 were recovered in a targeted operation on Friday and Saturday. Four search warrants were issued and four premises were searched. “A large quantity of fireworks were seized and a file is being prepared for the DPP,” Garda Michael Milner of Killarney Gardai told Killarney Advertiser.

The haul is the largest such seizure in Killarney in a number of years and the detections were carried out under a nationwide Garda operation – Operation Tombola – which has been targeting the sale and supply of fireworks. “We were very happy that hopefully this seizure of fireworks will have prevented someone from being hurt,” added Garda Milner.

Killarney-based musician Shane Doolan will release his latest single, ‘SPACEMAN’, this Friday, December 19.

The new track is described as an atmospheric release exploring themes of ambition, isolation, and the desire to escape everyday limits. The single showcases Doolan’s evolving sound, combining emotional storytelling with cinematic production.
The release follows a significant year for the young artist. Earlier in 2024, Doolan headlined his first live show at The Anam Centre in Killarney. The event was a major local success, raising over €1,055 for Movember, the men’s health charity.
Doolan, who first gained local attention after his band won the Battle of the Bands at the Anam Centre, has cited influences such as Walking on Cars, Bon Iver, and Kodaline. Following his September debut, “The Ruins,” and his second single, “After The Bells,” he is currently working toward a debut EP set for release in January 2026.
‘SPACEMA’ will be available on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, and all major streaming platforms from this Friday.
