WELL done to the students at St Brigid’s Presentation Secondary School whose civic-mindedness led to a welcome windfall for the Killarney branch of the Irish Cancer Society recently. The funds were generated by a number of events that took place in the school throughout the year.

Daffodil Day raised a significant amount through a bake sale, staff and students donning yellow attire and a raffle with many spot prizes from the local community. “We would like to thank the following sponsors for the prizes including; The International Hotel, Four Star Pizza, Who's 4 Shoes?, the Kilkenny Shop, O'Donoghue Fuels, Macs Ice-Cream Parlour, Park Road Pharmacy, Killarney Cinema, Mrs Anne Byrnes, Eason and Lidl,” said teacher and school PRO Vivienne Buckley.

The LCVP class also held a quiz for all second year students of the school and donated their proceeds to the Irish Cancer Society.

A special note of recognition to three students, Miriam Greene, Anna Fitzgerald and Aoireann Moriarty who most selflessly donated all of their profit from their market stall to the society. “St Brigid's is delighted to be associated with this most important organisation whose volunteers do such admirable work,” added Ms Buckley.
