The Gleneagle celebrates 60 years of entertainment

IT IS 60 years since The Gleneagle first opened its doors and so to celebrate the hotel has lined up a host of special events throughout 2017.

The festivities kick off next week, with a celebration of sixty years of music and entertainment. An array of The Gleneagle’s favourite entertainers will perform in the legendary ballroom throughout the week.

Dance and sway the week away and turn back the clock on 60 years of entertainment with The Ronan Collins Showband featuring The Sugarcubes, Sean O’Dowd and brothers Tommy and Jimmy Swarbrigg on March 12, the My Brother Joe Show on March 13, Brendan Shine on March 14 and Dickie Rock on March 15.

Tickets to the nightly concerts are available on the door each night and cost from €20 while special accommodation packages are also available. Stay tuned for more on The Gleneagle 60th celebrations.

Gardaí have confirmed they are investigating a road traffic incident involving wandering cattle that occurred in the Rathmore area in the early hours of Tuesday morning, February 24.

The incident took place during the hours of darkness when a number of vehicles collided with livestock on the road. While several cars and vans sustained significant damage, a Garda spokesperson told the Killarney Advertiser that no human injuries have been reported at this time. However, it has been confirmed that a number of cattle were injured as a result of the collisions.
Gardaí remain at the scene as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the incident and how the livestock came to be on the roadway.

A high-end vehicle was stolen from the Killarney urban area during the early hours of Tuesday morning, February 24.

The theft occurred between midnight and 6 am, with reports indicating that a high-end Audi was taken from a residential area.
Gardaí received a formal report of the vehicle theft this morning and have launched an immediate investigation into the matter.
A Garda spokesperson told the Killarney Advertiser that investigations are currently ongoing. Local officers are appealing to anyone who may have noticed suspicious activity in the Killarney town area overnight, or anyone with dash-cam footage from the midnight to 6 am period, to contact Killarney Garda Station on 064 6671160.
