Killarney Rotary tunes up for a magical weekend of music

WELL, the town was most definitely alive with the sound of music today as Killarney Rotary Club got in harmony for its annual celebration of talented youngsters.
At the club’s weekly lunch, Killarney Rotary president Angela O’Connor unveiled details of the Killarney Rotary Young Musician of the Year competition which takes place on Friday, March 3, and Saturday, March 4.
The 17th annual contest will unfold in the Kerry Diocesan Youth Centre, Fairhill and the associated concert will take centre stage in The Gleneagle Ballroom on Saturday, March 4, at 7.30pm.
The competition offers rising stars of the music world an unrivalled opportunity to showcase their talents. “The Killarney Rotary Young Musician competition was established by Killarney Rotarians Barry Murphy and Sean Treacy in 2001,” said Killarney Rotary president Angela O’Connor.
“Its success is a testament to the young musicians of Kerry and their parents. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the concert in The Gleneagle Ballroom on Saturday, March 4. Tickets are available in advance or on the door on the night.”

Numerous category prizes are presented as well as the overall winner's prize and the James Gleeson Memorial Trophy.
The Killarney Rotary Club Young Musician of the Year won the coveted all-Ireland Rotary International award the Sean Doyle Cup in 2016.
