Past pupils to bounce into action in aid of handball alleys
G
GENERATIONS of schoolboys honed their skills in the old handball alleys of St Brendan’s College and the college has pulled out all the stops to refurbish the facilities.
A past pupils reunion and fundraising activity day takes place in St Brendan’s College on Saturday, April 15.
The programme of events will feature a golf classic at Beaufort Golf Club (€200 per team).
Not only that, but Con Moriarty, Hidden Ireland Tours, will offer walking activities while you can also avail of a leisurely Gap of Dunloe boat trip and walk with Donal “Dux” O’Donoghue.
Cycling activities will be provided by Padraig Sears, Green Road Cycling. “All monies raised will be used in the refurbishment of the schools old handball alleys,” said organiser Ed O’Neill, St Brendan’s College.
“We aim to transform the area into a modern, roofed indoor area with a high tech AstroTurf floor. This all-year round facility will provide the school with further indoor recreational and training facilities. A specialised kicking/hurling skills wall will feature as part of the upgrade.”
The fundraising target is €30,000 and those who would like to take part are urged to contact the school office to book tee times, walking or cycle activities; call 064-6631021.
