Injured walker rescued from Strickeen Mountain

MEMBERS of Kerry Mountain Rescue Team were called to the rescue of a walker in the Gap of Dunloe area of the McGillycuddy’s Reeks shortly after noon yesterday.
The man, who is in his early 70s, had sustained an injury while walking on Strickeen Mountain.
The walker was treated at the scene of the incident for a suspected broken ankle and stretchered to the main road where he was transferred to a waiting ambulance and taken to Kerry General Hospital for further medical treatment.
Fifteen members of the Kerry Mountain Rescue Team were involved in the rescue, and the callout concluded at 1.45pm.
