Killarney Advertiser fantasy football league up and running

WITH over 130 entrants so far – and cash prizes to be won every month – Killarney Advertiser's own fantasy football league is sure to provide plenty of entertainment.
The quest to find Killarney’s top fantasy football manager is under way as the best wheelers and dealers in town go head to head in the league.
All of our managers will put their football knowledge to the test every week by carefully selecting their team of Premier League stars. If the players they select perform well enough they could be in with a chance of scooping a Manager of the Month award, or even the grand prize in May.
At the end of every month, the manager with the best record over that four-week period will walk away with €50. That means it’s never too late to join; although you might be playing catch-up in the overall tournament, you still have multiple chances to win our Manager of the Month prize.
The grand prize (which will be announced shortly) will be handed out in May.
To join, simply visit fantasy.premierleague.com, set up your team (if you haven’t already done so), go to ‘join new leagues’ and enter the code 3362128-949534.
The forthcoming set of midweek fixtures signals the final Gameweek in January and there are plenty of mangers still in with a great chance of claiming the money.
The absence and subsequent return of Chelsea’s Diego Costa was a potential game changer but seasoned fantasy manager Conor Healy did just fine without him. Defender Marcos Alonso’s huge score of 21 two weeks ago and his bold selection of Andy Carroll, who has three goals in two games, both pivotal in sending Healy ten points clear at the top of the hilariously named Serie A-dvertiser.
Jack O’Connor and Damien McCormick are both ten points behind and they, along with the rest of the chasing pack, will have to choose their captains carefully if they want to go get their hands on the cash.
Elsewhere, Shane Doolan has propelled himself well up the table with the highest score of Gameweek 22. He triple-captained Alexis Sánchez which earned him 24 points and an overall score of 80. He’s now 21 points behind the leader.
Honourable mention, too, to Conor Magill who has the best team name in the league. Unfortunately for him, you don’t get points for being gas in Serie A-dvertiser and Fiorentina Turner are currently 127th.
After a decent enough week I’ve managed to climb up to 12th but with 25 points to make up I’m unlikely to challenge this month. I suppose it would be a bit shady if I were winning prizes in a competition I set up myself so in the unlikely event that I finish top on any given month (and trust me, given my record in fantasy football this is very, very unlikely), the €50 will go to a random manager in the league.
And in the even more unlikely event of me winning the competition outright (again I can’t stress enough how improbable this is), the grand prize will go to whoever finishes second.
So best of luck to all of our managers and stay tuned for more updates.
