Have your say on future of Aras Phadraig building
T
THE launch of public consultation process by Kerry County Council on the future use of the Aras Phádraig building in the town has been welcomed across Killarney and Kerry in recent days.
A consultancy agency has been appointed to carry out a feasibility study to look at what future uses the property can be put to.
Welcoming the development and the scheduling of a public meeting, which will take place at 7.30pm on January 26, in the Killarney Avenue Hotel, Kerry TD Michael Healy-Rae said: “I believe that there is a great future for this property to be used as a small theatre which in turn can be used by many different groups for a variety of purposes.
“The most important thing that has to happen now is that members of the public and people representing groups and organisations and people from the world of arts would please make submissions, because the only way the council can really assess what the people want is if the people have their say.”
He added: “I again want to sincerely thank the Franciscan Order for the kind donation of the building to the people of Killarney many years ago and I know that they would dearly wish to see it being used productively for the future generations of people from Killarney town.”
