IT WILL be a busy winter for the Killarney Valley Classic & Vintage Club with the purchase of a very tired Massey Ferguson 135 tractor which the club plans on restoring to its former glory.

It is envisaged to have the project completed by summer 2017. The newly restored tractor will then be raffled off in the summer and the chosen charities from the South Kerry Ploughing Championships & Harvest Show which takes place on Sunday, September 3, 2017, will benefit from the proceeds.

The club urges anyone who would like to get involved to get in touch and would appreciate in particular sponsorship and any help with electrical, sandblasting and painting. “We are calling on anyone who would like to get involved and help out with this project to get in touch and all help will be greatly appreciated,” said club chairman Tom Leslie.
“It will also be an enjoyable social event with a cup of tea and chat afterwards.”

Anyone interested in getting involved can contact Tom Leslie, Chairman of Killarney Valley Classic & Vintage Club directly on 087-2383809.

The club would also like to say a huge thank you to Mike Moriarty of Moriarty’s Centra and Central Car Sales, Farranfore, who very generously purchased the tractor in its current condition for the club and for his continued support and also special thanks to Donal Kissane of DKB Machinery Ltd of Kilgobnet, Beaufort, Killarney, who is also supporting the project.

Those involved in the project will meet every Wednesday evening from 8pm-10pm at Killarney Men’s Shed and the club would like to say a special thank you to Kerry Mental Health and to Killarney Men’s Shed for the generous use of their facilities.

Club membership for Killarney Valley Classic & Vintage Club is now open and you can contact Club Secretary on 087-3381842 or visit www.killarneyvintage.com for further information. Keep an eye on the Killarney Valley Classic & Vintage Club’s Facebook page for updates.
