Barraduff woman recovering following freak parasailing accident

A PARASAILING adventure turned to disaster for Barraduff native Zoe O’Dwyer Kelly and her partner Noel Mounsey, from Ennis, Co Clare, recently.
Zoe and Noel, who are based in Sydney, were celebrating the first anniversary of their first date in the Australian city last Sunday week by parasailing above the ocean off Manly when the cord snapped and they fell into the water.
Zoe was knocked unconscious and was bleeding from a fractured skull, and Noel sustained a broken shoulder and wrist. But despite his injuries, Noel managed to keep his partner afloat while they were trapped under the parachute. "I wouldn't be alive if it weren't for him,” said Zoe.
A passing scuba-diving group was able to help the pair.
Now recovering in hospital, Zoe told the Killarney Advertiser she and Noel were getting “the best medical care”. “We are so grateful for all the love and support we have received,” she said. The Maritime Authority is investigating.
We send Zoe and Noel every good wish in their recovery.
