Aghadoe’s Mikie Galvin claims championship title

CONGRATULATIONS to Aghadoe man Mikie Galvin on securing the title of Irish Tarmac Rally Championship Co-Driver last weekend at the International Cork 20 Rally.
The Killarney man was co-driving for Bantry's Keith Cronin in their Citroen DS3 R5 and the pair were involved in a tense championship battle all weekend with Fermanagh's Alastair Fisher and the Moffett brothers, Josh and Sam, Co Monaghan.
Congratulating Mikie on behalf of Killarney and District Motor Club, Johnny Hickey said the 23-year-old co-driver is following in the footsteps of his fellow club member Paul Nagle. “The opening stages around the Fermoy countryside were slippy and fast requiring a steady pace and precision driving. The crew led the event after day one by a only mere five seconds,” said Johnny.
“On day two unfortunately they picked up a puncture on stage 12 dropping them back to fourth overall yet still collecting enough points to claim the title.
“For Mikie, this is the highest achievement in Irish rallying. Congratulations and well done.”
