Áras Phádraig site plans due by end of June

Kerry County Council will publish plans on the future of the Áras Phádraig site by the end of June.
Cllr Brendan Cronin questioned the delay on the plans at this week’s Killarney Municipal District meeting.
He said: “At the end of 2023 we were informed that plans were very advanced for a new 300 seat auditorium with meeting rooms etc on the Áras Phádraig site and that the planning would be brought before us in the New Year along with a design and assessment for a multistorey car park. What is the delay?’
A council official replied: “Detailed planning drawings and documentation have been prepared for a new Theatre with community space, a Public Plaza and a Primary Care Centre for the Áras Phádraig site. An assessment report is currently being prepared on the suitability of the Town Centre Car Parks to determine which site is most suitable for a the provision of a multi storey Car Park. This report will be completed by Q2 2024.”
