Construction of Killarney Skate Park commences

It was ironic that in the same week that Cllr Donal Grady announced his official retirement from Kerry County Council that construction started on the Killarney Skate Park.
Grady has been a long-time advocate of the project and as recently as the March Killarney Municipal District meeting he pushed for a construction commencement date.
Now, as he nears the end of his political career, one of his favoured projects is up and running.
Construction workers moved in to a small site adjacent to the Killarney Sports and Leisure Centres on Monday.
And while works are weather dependent, it will only be a matter of months before the Skate Park is open to the public given that construction of the Tralee Skate Park began in March last year and it was open by July.
