Art contest celebrates 800 years of the Christmas crib

The 800th anniversary of the first Christmas Crib was celebrated at the Friary this week.
The original crib was created by St Francis of Assisi, and the Franciscan Community in Killarney organised an art competition to celebrate the occasion.
The art competition was open to mainly sixth class primary school children from all the primary schools in Killarney and surrounding areas.
In total 226 children entered the competition and awards were presented to 34 winners.
